Supermarket Parking
Why does this always happen?
Popped out to Aldi yesterday evening and was surprised to find the car park less than a quarter full. Even so, I parked at the far end of the car park, well away from the store and everyone else. I was only in the store for less than five minutes, but that was long enough to attract another car. |

It is a strange trait where I tbink the second and subsequent drivers need a vehicle to line up with rather than lines. Had I been first in, I would have parked where the vehicle to your nearside is, able to park nearer to the kerb, and hopefully giving more room from your offside.
I have found the same in a cliff top empty car park. |

My choice would have been where the triangle no parking space is, and would have gone over into the triangle, thus giving me more space. see you at the meet Dave

I always try and park my nearside tight up to a kerbside space if one is free, then I get maximum space for opening my offside doors and only the chance of one car getting next to me, if they must 🙄😂. It's a strange phenomenon, though...I don't know why. I'll always park in a space with nobody next to me, unless there aren't any. Been car door dinged before when in another car...when I was sitting in it. 🙄

Looking at it again, I’m just wondering if the Mondeo has driven the wrong way around the car park. It’s a clockwise one-way system.
It would be awkward to drive into that space from the correct direction. I’m just glad I wasn’t still there when she was trying to reverse out. Last edited by daveo138; 30th June 2024 at 18:33.. |

At work I try to find an end space and park all the way over to the side (still within the lines) to give as much room as possible against the adjacent space. Unfortunately even at the workplace, door dings are fairly common

Buy a Yellow ZT and see the attention I get in car parks.
A few years ago I parked in the services at Pease Pottage on the M23. Whilst I sat in the car a VW Van pulled up so close to me the driver struggled to get out. I got out and asked the driver why he had parked so close. His reply was I can park where I like. I waited till he went into the services and I moved the car, then I went into to use the loo. When I came out the van was parked next to my ZT. And the driver was standing close by. I managed to get into mine and drove off.
