Sorry to dig up an "old" thread but I am trying to experiment with Igo Primo (Kastel's Ultimate edition) installed on an SD card. But the only installation file I have is an APK on the NavAll 1 HU so no clue as how to get that extracted and installed on the card.

Any tips on how to install on SD card?

TIA

If I understand correctly, you want to install the app onto the SD card?
Or do you wanna install from the SD card?

An APK is an installation file. You shouldn't have to unzip it manually to add certain files.

Hi Vinnie,

You understood perfectly. I want to install iGo on the SD card. I want to run it from the SD card so I am able to tweak it on my desktop PC. If possible I want to leave the iGo installed on the unit in place in case anything goes wrong but uninstalling is an option too.

I want to experiment with skins and a set of maps I have acquired but since there are so many versions of iGo and the one installed is called "Kastel's Ultimate edition" I can't figure out what skins to download or if the maps will work. By experimenting on a SD card I can safely return to the default app without too much trouble and risk.

Hope this makes sense

If you look at the folder in your unit where Igo is located, you'll notice that it has an APK file and several files and folders around it.
It uses those files and folders when installing the app. So any change you make to those files will immediately be used when you re-install the app.

I did the same when I updated my maps to the newest ones, added Dutch voices, improved the Dutch translation and edited the startup logo.

OK, so I downloaded the software and with some effort got it installed on the unit. iGo runs and the maps I got are recognized. Added some Dutch voices (works OK) and tried to change the "skin" but was unsuccessful. There are multiple skins in the default package but somehow I am unable to select anything other than the one called "default".

The software loads extremely slow from the SD card but that might be because I have it installed on a 32GB ChingLing card

Will experiment more tomorrow. Keep you posted!

PS. Found some interesting skins on iGo8navigation.com after registration for version 9.6.7.235654 (google for that version)

Quick update: still not able to change skins Anyone have a clue?

Will need to buy a more speedy SD card (UHS-I?) since operation is still extremely slow. Tips are welcome

As far as I have been able to find, the max speed is class 10. If you go any higher the unit will just not be able to use it. The SD card might be capable of more, but the unit isn't.
But to put your mind at ease, I'm very much impressed with the Samsung UHS-II class 10 SD card:http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/33641...+-adapter.html

Regarding the skins, could you perhaps sent me a download link. I don't mind giving it a try to see if I can get it working.

Hi Vinnie,

The skins I mentioned are part of the package. If you browse to ./iGo/content/skin you will find about 8 zip files that contain the skins. I have them but can't select them through the UI. Do I need to unpack them?

A download link is not very useful because you can only download the files as a registered user on igo8navigation.
