Default Tow Bar question

Hi,

I apologise if this has been asked before. Do all 75's come ready for a tow bar to be added? I had a quick glance under mine (not for long though as it was raining heavily) and could see what looked like a plate where I presume a tow ball could be attached. Couldn't see anything for the electronics though which concerned me. Did I just miss it or would this be an optional extra not fitted to my car? If that's the case, what's involved to get the car ready for towing?

Any guidance would be appreciated before I buy my caravan and find out I can't actually bring it home !!!

See here as fitted to a V8 but unless you have one you wont need to remove the exhaust

It depends what you mean by ready for a tow bar to be fitted. I'm guessing the plate you saw was probably the jacking point/ reinforcing towing bracket for towing another car - that is standard on all cars.

A tow bracket for a caravan runs the width of the rear bumper and fixes to the chassis rails at either side. Fitting one is a fairly easy task, they just bolt into place, no drilling, just bumper removal crash panel removal and replace the crash panel with the new bracket.

Electrics are quite a lot more involved, especially if you need the twin towing sockets.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
