The hose reduces in diameter further down, so you don't really need the second clip |

It would be very easy to damage the hose (just as it would with a Dremmel) so work slowly .........and I didnt use the second clip either, was concerned it would chafe the hose. So far it doesnt seem to have moved |

Would this not be more effective if it was in the other end of the hose nearer the engine ?
It's just a question, i have no idea where the other end of the hose goes to. For all i know it could go right round to the oem stat. |

The idea of fitting the extra thermostat to the diesels was mine and I fitted the first (one in an Aluminium housing) three and a half years ago with no problems since. As mods go it is easy, cheap, reliable, and easy to return to original spec should you wish to. (£20 for a new top hose) Last edited by wuzerk; 22nd May 2014 at 16:09.. |

The top hose is tapered and the new thermostat is already fitted in the engine end, the other end is too small.

What worries me is that there is no flow of coolant near this thermostat, the only way the thermostat is going to open is when the water near it reaches 88 degrees by heat dissipation, for that water to reach 88 degrees surely the engine must get really hot ?

My car sits between 75 and 78 degrees, it's not really hot enough and I might try this but I have to convince myself first.
