Default wrong radio in the car

just bought a 05 plate contemporary se , the head unit has been changed to a Kenwood single cd player meaning I can't use the multichanger in the boot , looks like it should have a VDO CR213X , were these any good or should I just stick with the Kenwood ?

If your Contemporary was fitted with a VDO CR213X then you can replace it with any of these three.

VDO CR213X

VDO CD413X

VDO CD540MP3X

The VDO units were OK but not outstanding quality.

They will all work with your changer providing your 75 was originally fitted with a VDO unit.

The changer XQE 000580 is the correct changer for the IVOX CR80, CD413X and the CD540MP3X.

Ok , I was double checking the connections at the back of the radio and pulled out the top multiplug connector , the radio burst into life ! however I put it back in and it went off , also noticed the CD changer in the boot was as dead as a dodo , could the changer be duff and cancelling out the radio ?

By the top multiplug do you mean the blue mini ISO plug. The blue plug is clipped together with a yellow and a green mini ISO plug.

If unplugging the changer gets the radio to work then the changer could be faulty, but also the wiring needs checking.

Looks like the wiring to the changer is at fault , I changed it for a new one and it still knocks off the radio , I disconnected the changer and the radio sparks into life , is the cable available separately or do I have to get a whole new loom from the radio backwards ?
