Default Brake Fail warning light.

Very occasionally when I first start the car (75 Diesel) I get a "Brake Fail" warning light on the display. There does not appear to be any fault with the brakes in as much as the pads are all good and the brakes all work efficiently.. Any one any idea's as to what would cause this.

It has been probably a few years since the last time it came on. and then it will come on several time in a few few days.

Battery Low???

How does that affect the brake?? and why would "Brake Fail"? show. I am puzzled..

Or is it just one of the quirks of Rover/MG

My auto Connie does this too when it's been really cold. Fine in the warmer months .

Hello John,

I once experienced this; an occasional and intermittent red brake warning in the message centre when the brakes were not being applied. To my embarrassment I discovered that the fluid level in the master cylinder was close to minimum and triggering the switch unpredictably.

Ah hem ...
