Rover 75 1.8 Connoisseur Saloon.
Many years ago, my Rover 75 saloon rear seats, refused to lock back in the upright position. Leaving them loose, was a potential problem if braking with passengers etc. I intended to look for means of adjustment, but when pushing down the buttons in the top of the backrests, they went further than they should and locked securely, but would no longer release to let down the backrests again so as to extend the boot. Any ideas?

the release spring has moved, with the seat down push the button back up and then use some long nosed pliers to push the spring sideways until it lines up with the middle of the button

Rear Seat backrests.
Thankyou for your reply - but how do I get the seats down to manipulate the button and the spring?
