Steering Wheel ZT & 75
Can anyone tell me why the steering wheel for the 75 will not fit the ZT? My CDTi has the dark green leather seat inserts and I thought about replacing the black steering wheel with a green 75 one, as seen on ebay at the moment. The colour seat inserts look a bit lonely you see. The listings specifically state that the wheels are for 75s and not ZTs. I don't know if it's a good idea or not, but it is an idea. It is difficult to see much room for improvement in the set-up of the interior really but when you see something you don't have, then you wonder, don't you?

75 and ZT wheels are interchangeable. It is the airbag cover that is different one from the other and that is just the badge but the covers can be swapped.
Do you have a link for us? |

Thanks GG. I think you chaps are familiar with the seller - I'm sure I've seen his name here somewhere - thezwarehouse? Here's a link to one of his steering wheels'
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROVER-75-LEATH...QQcmdZViewItem I couldn't see any reason myself why the steering wheels wouldn't be interchangeable, with the obvious exception of MG/Rover badges. So, do you think it's a simple case of fitting the wheel and swapping my centre/airbag over? Cheers, Colin. |

Something else just occured to me. I don't have cruise control - presumably the controls on the steering wheel will be a simple unscrew and remove affair?

If I were you I would leave the CC controls in place in case you ever decide to install aftermarket CC in which case the switch could possibly be utilised. Conversely 2 screws removed will be all that is necessary to do away with it.

Good point, although I like to keep involved with the driving experience so CC really would be just for the sake of having it. I suppose it wouldn't do any harm to keep the controls there. Thanks.

As GG says the wheels are interchangeable, the reason thezwarehouse states that it's only for a 75 is that the model number is for a 75 so they will only sell it as a wheel for a 75 but i am sure if you asked them over the phone they would confirm it would fit both.

I see what you're saying Kandyman. I did post a question to them through one of steering wheel auction pages but never received a reply. I understand it must get frustrating for high volume sellers repeatedly answering the "will it fit my car" question but it's also frustrating not getting an answer to a simple question! Thank goodness for the forum.

That sounds like the kind of aftersales service we want Teflon! All of their stuff is obviously as good as it gets by the look of it, all original etc, etc. Maybe they were just fed up answering stupid questions when I tried to contact them. I'm still not too sure about this steering wheel though. Can't picture it with the green rim and black middle. I may do a wee photoshop session when I get the time.
