I'm not being awkward, but these are all measurable things. There must be some tests to substantiate it, surely? I've just looked on the Miller website and it makes some extravagant claims (an unbelievable 17.5% more power, 70% reduced emissions) but offers no evidence for these claims whatsoever. Without any evidence, it just strikes me as snake oil. It's a bit like me saying there's a teapot in orbit around the earth. |

The other injector cleaner /fuel additive brands use similar formulations (Redex, STP, Comma etc) All these firms are governed by the trade discriptions act and any claims about the performance of a product have to be able to be verified. Time and again on forums we hear tales of poor MPG, starting and even injector failure. Some of these can be directly attributed to contaminants in the fuel causing problems that could have been solved or prevented by the regular use of injector cleaner or fuel additives especially in diesels. You can pick up a bad batch of fuel anywhere ( it's happened to me) which can foul the injectors even from a branded outlet. Ask any decent Mechanic and he will give you the same advice I posted earlier. Well over half a million miles in diesels with no problems I know what I'll continue to use Russ

"Snake oil it ain't" it works, trust me. I've used injector cleaners more times than I care to count when MOT testing customers cars that could not pass an MOT smoke test. Pour some in, take for a drive and as if like magic an MOT pass.
I agree with you I dont trust manufacturers claims as they are difficult to prove, same as these so called scientific tests, (who pays there wages?). I go by personal recommendation and what I have seen and experienced myself. I'm not trying to sell anyone any product try it and make your mind up, you will feel a difference.

Fair enough, Russ, and I'm not saying you aren't correct, but I'd still like to see the evidence. I've done some googling on a few occasions but not come up with anything that proves these additives have any positive effect whatsoever. I'm not saying the evidence doesn't exist, it's just I haven't seen it.
Just because more than half the world's population believe there is a god doesn't mean they are right. (In fact, they are wrong, but let's not get into that ) |

Keiron, would agree that the regular use of a fuel additive vs. positive effect is very difficult to prove.
Additives are one thing, injector cleaner another. My findings and experience are based on the regular use of injector cleaner in order to clean out the fuel system, injectors and the build up of deposits in the combustion chambers which can have a detrimental effect. I usually give mine a dose of injector cleaner every thousand miles or so or when I feel that the car isn't running as it should. I agree with Tigerchubs in his last post that the best way is to experience it for yourself, as he says, you should be able to feel the difference. Russ
