Default Cigar lighter woes

Seems to be the week for jammed panels

The cover for my cigar lighter socket is jamming.

When pushed, it drops until the top edge is about 10mm out and refuses to go further.

I can't see any obvious causes.

Any ideas please?

Did you take the unit out to fit the torch connections? My drink cup holder is also sticking and it appears to be down to slight compression of the sides of the whole lower unit upon re-fitting...just off to sort it now...

No, I already had an aux power socket wired in so just tapped from that.

I'd remove the whole assembly if required but I cannot see the reason why it is jammed.

I now have exactly the same problem, Paul.

Did you ever get yours sorted?

There is a small cog that locks off in each direction, they have a small amount of grease to aid their function. From my experience after pulling it out to replace the cigar lighter bulb, I found that the grease had deteriorated and was covered in dust/muck. After a clean up and re-lube it now works fine.

Hope the info is of some use.

No

I never got round to it.

Too much trouble to remove the whole fitment I suppose

Especially when I have a perfectly adequate power socket under the arm-rest.

I really should sort it out though.
