Default Dead steering wheel controls

Got the standard Kenwood headunit & steering wheel controls and CD in the glovebox.

On my way to work last night - worked fine.

This morning - nothing. I can change source/volume etc via the buttons on the HU, but the steering wheel controls do nothing. Weird.

Before I hit it with a hammer & swear at it - anyone any ideas what the problem could be?

Make sure that the LED under the eyebrow can 'see' the unit, it may be dislodged or its view blocked by something on the shelf.
