Default Wince Map Upgrades

Hi all,

I have bought the Western Europe map upgrades for my Wince DD unit bought from Sean a few years ago, all is working well including the reversing camera.

I bought the maps on the SD card, my choice and no real reason other than I feel safer with something "touchable" - it's an age thing!

I have a reasonable computer and I know how to use it, without being anything like an expert or even that knowledgeable on the subject. So before I start trying to put the new maps on the system could someone please take me through the steps I have to do to successfully update my system.

If this has already been dealt with could someone give me the thread details as I trawled though but could not find anything.

I assume I have to remove the SD card from the car unit and put it on my computer and then somehow overwrite the maps from the new card but a simple step by step instructions would be a great help and hopefully stop any untoward glitches!

Thanks for the help
Best regards
Dennis

This thread may help as post number 4 shows which files go in which folder.

Cheers

Thanks Stuart,

My new SD card has all sorts of files on it including a selection of cars etc, I think maybe it is a complete system and map card - I'l check with Sean and possibly Tony Fry as his was the name on the payment via Paypal?

Hi Dennis

Sean, Tony and indeed Jeff are great for support as are so many members on here, so you'll get it all updated safely.

Cheers

I don`t know if your unit takes the same type of maps as the one in link, check this out first.

File types should be the same across both WinCE and Android I think.

If you purchased the maps on SD then it will be a complete system card - just swap them over in the head unit. You may need to copy some of your original config files over to the new card however, depending on how customised you have the sat nav.

Thanks Jeff,

Sent a follow up PM and just so it is on record for others if they have same problems, my original supplied SD for IGO 8 and W.Europe maps in 2012 was on an 4GB SD and there is not enough space for the new maps even after deleting the old W.Europe maps as the new maps seem to be over 3GB.
