Stiff butterfly. Sounds familiar.
Mine used to be until I attacked it with a knife, file and some wet & dry. Now it opens & closes like a dream.

Exactly what I did, it was very stiff to open originally. I also added a small about of copper grease to keep it moving freely.
If someone has a testing box they are willing to lend me I can test all the motors and repair accordingly. I can pay a deposit if required! |

Ah, I see your problem there, trouble is these test boxes are quite few and far between and not a purchasable item ( made by the individual). However if you look at the club image gallery and look in Rleon's pictures you will see a wiring diagram for one. (ignore the part of the diagram with the bulb)
Put simply, it is a live feed to the blue and yellow connection on either motor. Then there are two negatives, one of which is black on both VIS motors. The second neg is switched. Cannot remember the colours off the top off my head. When the live is connected to the blue/yellow and the black is connected to the neg the VIS motor sits at rest. Then connect the second negative AS WELL and the VIS motors across. Disconnecting the second neg allows the VIS to motor back to rest. The fourth connection ( with the bulb) simply sends a signal back to the ECU. Hence not reqd to test VIS action. It is a but fiddly but can be done with a 9v battery, bit of wire and three small spade connectors. HTH

No idea if there is any need for another idiot savant preoccupied by the VIS actuators nightmare, but if you have nothing better to do, take a look here:
http://forums.mg-rover.org/showpost....51&postcount=1 ...and here: http://forums.mg-rover.org/showpost....19&postcount=4 A small series made for sale is to be considered if you think it is worth the effort. I have the skills and materials to have it done, unfortunately not very much time. What do you think? ...and thanks for looking. Fidel Edited: and about the small japanese motors here: http://forums.mg-rover.org/showpost....5&postcount=39 I can confirm now, I had to clean the actuators again since that post, in my car they are the equivalent of FC-280PC/SC. ...a possible problem and a how to here: http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=273461

There's threads on here about how to bild one, or if you're good with a meter and a 12 volt source....
It's very easy to remove the balance flap and put it on the wrong way round... Don't ask,.
