It is just surface corrosion, clean them up and whack some hammerite on them - of course that is a £30k car and you shouldn't have to do that yourself!
I bet it drives nice, how is the economy? Give us a full run down Rich, I for one won't be sniping at your choice of car. |

First of all the rust in question is on the hub, not on the disk it's self. It's a major problem for all new BMW's,not just mine!
See here :- http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52531 Now the obvious - I would clean the rust myself but we are talking BMW here so the car has run flat tyres and you don't get a jack. Yes i have a trolley jack but you can't use that as it requires a special BMW locator - without it you damage the sills as many people have before me!!! I could do it myself but, with the extras, the list price on this car is £39860 - Why the F should I have to do it my self!!!! That apart the car car is fine - BUT - totally characterless. I know it's stating the obvious but it's just too Germanic! Technically good but slightly boring is a good sumary! Not remapped yet, although Rover Ron box is "under development" soon. That should see 280BHP and 600nm. Performance is good but it's so deceptive as it's too quiet and smooth. To give you some idea i had a blast with a Mini Cooper S WORKS yesterday and the 330d kept up no problem at all. Economy wise I have averaged 39.7mpg in the first 5000 miles (ZT did 42ish, manual box) but that is with an AUTO box. Around town it sucks as low as 25 MPG or less. Lucky for me I don't do too much around town.

The 5 I've just ordered has come in at £48k and the auto is more economic than the manual Nice
Couldn't bring myself to buy the diesel again. Just not enough difference to warrant the cost. I worked out that even with the cost of the car I personally would have to cover 130k miles before I started to actually save money. Boo |

Handling is better than the ZT but it's not as secure. Over do it and the car will snap and catch you out, almost lost the back end in the wet more than once. The ZT communicated that you were over doing it first. Auto with Efficient Dynamics is impressive - almost the same MPG as the manual. Drop it into sports mode and it's blistering away from the lights. In hindsight i wish I had gone for the next model up(335d 282BHP, 560nm) to be honest as the MPG is no different under gentle driving. Oh well, 1st service is at 21K according to the computer so at least the servicing costs are reasonable. Oh and why did I buy a black car again - it's a bi**h to keep clean!!
