I did this to my zt when the paint started to flake off. I used nitromors, thinners and anything else I could find, none if which did anything to it! ( if you can find original nitromors it's supposed to be pretty good, but the new stuff has had all the good stuff taken out and it'd would be more effective to soak it in water!!)
In the end I used wet and dry to get the rest of the paint off, and then buffed them up. Being stainless steel they ended up with a nice brushed finish rather than mirror chrome, but I think that suits the zt more. No matter how careful you are, you'll prob still break some clips taking the trim off, if you get a pair from a breakers, try and get a few clips too. |

Wilkinson's own paint stripper works but takes time. Buffed mine with a polishing mop on the drill. Got an excellent finish on the stainless steel
