I'd rather get on any plane than a boat. If anything, this just shows that all the safety procedures have good integrity. Unlike Costa Concordia et al

In answer to your question George, I will say I am in no hurry to get on a 787. I have to fly back from the UK at the end of March/early April and was checking out fares, routes and aircraft yesterday. On one site I looked you at I had a chance to see what aircraft are used for the. I did see a 787 and saw myself crossing that route off. I believe it makes substantial savings in fuel costs, performs well long haul and once it is proven to be safe and back up in the air, I can see more and more aircraft being manufactured in the same way that the 787 is. Having said this, I suspect that eventually my resolve will give way. It makes sense to remove the lithium batteries and replace them with standard ones. What do I know? I am only a passenger

Wouldn't bother me. In the grand scheme of things it's not a huge issue. I wouldn't worry about a battery isn't that complicated. I'm sure it'll be sorted quickly.

More than that I would have thought. Having had a quick look I think you are right. Upto 120 m for the other variant.

I couldn't find any information about manufacturing cost off-hand. That sort of data tends to be quite commercially sensitive. That sounds like a license to print money but Boeing need to sell around 170 airframes before they've even broken even on the cost of the program. Since most manufacturers end up having to provide tweaks and changes to airframes (e.g. providing solutions for design defects like the battery issue and then working these solutions into production) that number will almost certainly rise. Also, while you might think 840 orders leaves them laughing, in actual fact a big percentage of those orders will never materialise; the airlines responsible will either trim down what they can afford or - in some cases - go out of business altogether.
