13,000 at risk
Acrcadia group could apparently go into administration with the loss of 13,000 jobs .......13,000
Never a nice time for people to lose their jobs but in this climate even worse. Why does this sort of thing happen year on year just before Christmas? I've worried about losing my job in the past but it never happened, must be awful to have it happen. macafee2 |

This is a tragedy for all of the viable businesses rendered non viable by our response to Covid 19. I was never a fan of shutting everything down, but then I'm not a fan of thousands perishing prematurely from Covid 19 either. As Chris Whitty said, 'what you have to understand sir is there is no scenario without risk'. This is a poisoned chalice for any government, and a bummer for the rest of us as well.

Peter Green: deceased. Revered guitarist and denizen of the Riviera Canvey Island. Philip Green: chancer, loser of pension funds, laughing all the way to a secret bank. How very dare you to scandalise a poor poor boy who always played the right cords.

Very apt to describe said Philip Green! He asset stripped the property assets of BHS and sold the consequences for a £1 to the numpty 'I'm not an accountant' who has just been sentenced to a lengthy jail term. BHS had to lease their own stores back from his wife's property company at usurious rates which is what drove them into bankruptcy. He is also a sociopath. What he did to his employees was utterly disgraceful, just so he could buy a bigger yacht and grandstand among his sycophantic admirers.

Philip Green is a t#@*. He knows exactly what he’s doing, currently supping himself on his £x million yacht in Monaco while those in the shops lose their livelihoods, does he give a stuff? No he doesn’t,sold down the river just like BHS.
Should be made to pay it back .

Andy, I forget the name of the pub that used to be next to the Kursaal in Southend, not there now but I played a gig (Ha! A gig no less!) there back in the day. Wilko was with some mates imbibing some orange juice in the bar. As he left, more important things to do, he winked at the stage. Well, we called it a stage anyway. And I think it was a wink anyway. I was chuffed. He must have left the Big Figure somewhere else.

In regards to Green, was it our laws that allowed things to go the way they did?
Del Boy he may be but he has a lot more money that any of us. I am not sure which I dislike most, our laws that "allow it" or those that take advantage and "sheet" on the rest. These people have little or no compassion for fellow man.... eeek am I allowed to say that Good luck to the 13,000 macafee2 |

It's usually exploitation of existing tax law where a loophole is at least suspected. Then the pure tax lawyers swoop. They are so expensive only the very rich can afford them and they are themselves tax deductible. A very vicious but profitable business to be in. All entirely legal, of course.

The man is nothing but a spiv and thief, someone who specialises in financial engineering of companies.
To sell off company assets to offshore companies held in trust by your spouse who lives in Monaco, then lease them back to offset your operational profits and thus reduce your tax liabilities, while the profits of the lease being offshore in a tax haven cannot be touched. How this man "earned" a knighthood is beyond me, he should be fined the sum of £350,000,000 the resultant fine paid into the pension funds of the employees of his empire, whom have been shat on from a great height, then have his knighthood revoked. I recall thinking what a slimy individual when the scandal surrounding his plundering of BHS pensions was in the news a few years back, nothing in the intervening years has changed that view Scumbag!! |
