Default Lower engine mount -diesel

The attached Xpart memo may be of interest to anyone trying to source a genuine diesel lower mount - they no longer come with a 'T' stamped on them. They have an 'M' ( as for the 1.8) but with a yellow dot on the M to denote a diesel spec mount.

Hi Pete,

That's interesting I wonder when they introduced that as the one I had knocking about was 18 months old and didn't have that type of coding system on it.
At least as a positive note you have the correct one.
Thanks for uploading that data sheet it's very helpful and I'm sure it'll be helpful to other members.

I think the memo was issued in April 2016, according to John Cremins at Xpart, who I spoke to on the phone about this issue.

Very useful for future reference. Thanks.

The only problem I can foresee is this being open to abuse - selling one mount as the other and just adding a sticky coloured dot.

Hi Pete,
That would tie in with mine being in the shed for 18 months then. I presume they're still made of the same compound

What colour dot are they going to use for the 2.0 2.5 petrol mount, I am dubious about this colour dot coding to say the least, just my opinion, it's a bit like toblerone removing a triangle segment and say it is still the same bar, why would you just not make another mould ? how hard would it be really call me suspicious if you like, i would be very cautious using one but if people do time will tell I'm sure

Quite agree, Steve. Having worked as a production Engineer in a previous life I would guess that having damaged one set of tooling they have come up with this half baked solution which is more open to mistakes being made.

p.s. Mrs Sprinter bought me a Toblerone a couple of days ago and I was explaining the new format to her.

Ah, the good old engine mount debate.

With the RRP of the genuine part now being nearly £100 (and the actual specification being in question), I'm still sticking to what I've said for a while now - the SAIC MG engine mounts, even though not designed for the diesel, work OK.

I've been under my own MG ZT-T a lot recently, and it has had the SAIC MG mount fitted for a long time now. It's still in perfect condition, I have no vibration in the cabin, and it's got to be getting on for 100,000 miles now.

It's worth a look for anyone debating which to fit - we also warrant them for 2 years (unlimited mileage) -

It's a shame we can't get hold of any more of the Genuine MG Rover mounts we had for a long time, they were the proper diesel items and were very well priced, too.

Pete
The original mounts are out there and have the letter T link below
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-MG...oAAOSwAYtWKlJh

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-RO...kAAOSwBahU0L7h

So are the other mounts being used
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-75-2...3D282540395050

Note that this seller as a drawing amongst their photo's showing the original mount in the picture
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-75-M...MAAOSwHLNZTWSX

I have yet to find an original 2.0 or 2.5 original with the letter P for sale also remember that the jaguar mount fits our cars with some adaption/ modification.

My order of preference would be as below

1 original with letter T diesel
2 power Flex with original centre
3 Jag modified

The others are meant for 1.8 petrol engines
