Fit the new cap, at least it will rule that one out, and it's a cheap fix if it solves it.

Matt,

I cannot see anything in your last post.

Take your car to a garage which is capable of following MGR's filling and bleeding procedure. That's the place to start. Leave the original expansion tank cap in place for now.

Matt, was the engine running when you took the first picture? If not, then your expansion tank is overfilled. The level should be at the 'max' marker which is towards the bottom of the tank.

Default New water cap..it's right?

Hi Again,

Yesterday I ordered a new filler cap after having a problem of water leak (please see pictures in my gallery) ..When speeding up the engine comes out of the cap a lot of water from the water thank, but today I saw the older one on the top have a circle with 200 stamped on it.

The new filler cap is 140 stamped on it.

Why I have a 200 in my car ? I saw some ad of others they have 100 and 140 My car is a Rover 75 2.5 V6 petrol..thanks in advance

Matt

My 1st coolant leak was when I lowered the subframe and when raising managed to crush a join in the pipes.

My second coolant leak which happened last week ended up being soft rubber at a join which was fixed by pairing the soft part down and reconnecting.
I noticed where the leak was because there was fresh,
but dry, coolant in a spray pattern behind said hose. If you need to replace an entire section it doesn't break the bank I managed to get a metre for under a fiver.

Only downside to that is that now the pressure can't get out there, it's exposed a weak point in the stat housing and now that's leaking!

You only need to fill to where it says max, that leaves almost the entire tank,
expansion tank you can see, empty. Its not it just looks it.
Dangerous to overfill get a big syringe and get that out of there.
You only really need to cover the fins at the bottom.
