Default Another fault fixed

The off side passenger door of my Tourer would not open from the inside, never has since I got it.
Finally got round to taking the inside handle off. checking against a spare door I discovered the hook on the end of the cable had snapped off.
A new cable is 10-12'ish pound and I did not want to remove the cable from my spare door. I then had to remove the door card for better access.

I got a length of multi strand electrical cable, stripped the sheath off so I was just left with the strands. Twisted the strands together, put it once around the door cable then twisted so it would not slip past what was left of the plastic end. For good measure I added a little solder to the twist. Reinserted the outer cable into the holding of the door handle. Put one of the ends of the multi strand though the hole in the inside door handle and then twisted the two lengths of multi strand together. Again added a bit of solder.

Works a treat. In time I suspect the multi strand will snap but I rarely have passengers in the back seats, so it should last quite some time. Sorry, I had reassembled before remembering to take a photo.

That's another fault fixed.

Sounds like it was an inside job.
