Difficulties with thermostat housing replacement
Morning.
Stat housing is cracked so I've started stripping down the top of the engine to get at it. Unfortunately, I've broken the T- piece that is on the camshaft-TB pipe. It's the section marked 3 on this page: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID999773 It's only the T I need, anyone know where to get one, out of its just a standard size that could be picked up from an auto factors? Thanks |

Assuming only one or two of the arms have gone then you could do what I did which is use some fuel line and and some very small jubilee clips. Trouble with attempting to replace the T piece is that unless you're very gentle and have sufficient lubrication the rest of the pipe tends to splinter as the heat from the engine will have rendered it quite fragile. I have heard of examples of the whole thing being replaced in this fashion but you'd need the stuff with the heat resistant sleeve.

Check the bore of your breather pipes and select one from here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...piece&_sacat=0

The actual part is this
LINK The component is a Norma TS10 tee, and to fit it you need to boil some water and pour into an old cup, heat the pipe ends in the water until the black plastic softens, and crush the ends with your fingers and then remove the remnant of the old nylon tee. Repeat the warming of the pipe, and push the ends onto the new tee, job done, and it looks absolutely OEM, because it is Brian |

Brilliant, thanks guys. The car is sitting outside and it's been rubbish weather here, so didn't look at it yesterday to check pipe diameters.
Will try to get hold of one of those tees this afternoon and press on with the work |
