ZTT Temperature gauge fluctuations
My ZTT has been fine (100%) until yesterday when the temp gauge shot into the red dropped straight back, did this couple of times and I pulled off M23 asap. Checked the water, no problem, fan kicks in happily. Carried on (had to, family commitment) watched temp gauge and every now and then it would kick up to the next line and then drop straight back. Tooled along at 65 no problems ran great. (weather was vile anyway)
Checked water at destination this am and it needed almost litre of water, that is a lot I know for a KV6. No water in the V and the thermostat was changed last month (MGRS one). Cant see any leaks and no mousse in the oil cap. BUT its obviously a water leak.....Have to drive back tomorrow....This an unanswerable question as it obviously has water leak but dilemma should I drive it or should I get it 'fixed' here in Gloucetsrshire. NOT putting K seal in it either! Could it be an air lock? Might it be an idea to drain it and refill using "the method?" |

You have lost water. You cannot check that when hot!
With engine cold, squeeze the big coolant rubber pipe, and add water as the air gets out. Fill to MAX mark, no more. You have a leak, and that should be found. Run and check again when cold. Keep an eye on it until you know what is going on.
