Default In Engine Bay - Any Idea What This Is?

It is a black conduit and, on mine, it has some gaffer tape on it.
Any idea what it is for, and why I would have tape on mine?
A closer shot is underneath.

Thanks!
I am also now wondering what the blue part is, too.

Not sure on the wire, but I think the blue thing is either ABS sensor or Brake wear sensor.

Blue one is the connector for the ABS sensor.

Black one is the connector for the brake pad wear sensor - perhaps the clips have broken hence the tape.

Thanks Colin.
I think you are right about the clips too. I will have to source some, as I hate gaffer tape!

Default rubbing

I see that,as is common, the large bore aluminium air con pipe is rubbing on the bonnet liner. You might want to add some tape to prevent it? Also check that the blue windscreen washer reservoir cap is not rubbing on the small bore pipe, I had to shave some off of mine.

Actually the more prone one is the thinner high pressure pipe going down behind the engine that rubs on the firewall....! Mine wore through there and I had to have it repaired....

Thanks chaps. Some good points on where I need to check.
I will have a look and try to protect those areas.
As per the picture, the top pipe is definitely rubbing, already.

Yes, thanks, another good point! I will have a look inside that conduit.
Probably more than likely . Whenever I see gaffer tape, I always think "bodge job".

Thanks to all.
