Number plate suppliers queery
Can anyone recommend a supplier of number plates for our cars, I have used Hardridden in the past but he no longer trades on e-bay, but does still produce plates but I don't have any contact details.
Apparently the proper rear blank plates are NLA for our cars and many suppliers have resorted to the method of a reflective vinyl surface on top of the perspex rather than from underneath, the problem I have with the last one produced by Hardridden is the top surface is deteriorating and showing a ripple effect. I would be very interested to learn of a supplier who can still produce the rear plate from original stock blanks

Exactly the same thing happened to my last rear smiley plate from Hardridden after being on the car for just after a year.
I tend to use Demon Plates now. A bit more expensive but appear to be very good quality. http://www.demonplates.com/platebuilder.php |

Just been to the local motor factor's in Darlington today and asked if they could do a rear smiley plate for the 75 as mine has been given an advisery at the mot. They checked and said they can but would have to order the plate in. Asked how much they are. Same as normal no plate at about 10 pounds plus delivery cost to them. I've had a couple of plates made up here for trailers in the last couple of years and been very impressed with them. Normal plates are done in 10 minutes while you wait. So maybe try a local motor factor's that make plates up and ask them. Maybe they will have to order smiley plate in but should be still done for the next day

Alidrew Engineering
A proper number plate supplier, DVLA registered so you will need to email them the correct documentation, ie copy of V5 and driving licence.
Super job, nikkolite reflective backing under the acrylic, not like the rubbish from Hardridden, and for a pair with the correct markings and fully legal, I paid £40 They have the MG Rover factory logo on file too from when I had my last set made up Find them HERE Brian |
