Default MG ZT 220S problem.

A fellow owner's MG ZT 220S has a brake stop light problem. I appreciate that you may not be familiar with this version as ZT/75 were supercharged for the Australian market.

His car is a manual transmission with cruise control. His car is a 2002 model, though I believe the 220S was only introduced in 2004 - may have selected earlier examples to supercharge.

His auto electrician tells him that the MG Rover p/n XKB000022A won't slot into the pedal box. Being some hundreds of kms away, physical inspection is not practical. There is some talk that p/n XKB100090 may be easier to fit.

I am aware that the Land Rover part (without the "A" suffix) is not acceptable in vehicles with cruise control.

Was the XKB100090 (an MG Midget/ B, Austin Healy Sprite item) introduced into our cars at a later stage of the 75/ZT production?

I have not experienced brake stoplight failure, but suspect it is not the easiest of jobs to do, especially if the serviceman in a small town has no former experience about the pedal box.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Do you mean XKB000090? If so it looks the same as the XKB000022a apart from being double pole for cruise control.
I used a 22a as a replacement for my clutch switch recently, it fit perfectly in both my 75 and zt, and the brake switch looked identical.

Default Brake Switch.

Thanks for your reply, Dan.
I am going on what has been passed on to me - well over a days travelling to see the vehicle.

Your comments make sense as I notice Rimmers list that number below the
XKB000022A item.
I shall pass on your comments.

Regards

egremont.
