Default Modern Classic Status, insurance etc

Hi all,
I've bought a new car for my daily commute and I've had my Rover up for sale on eBay.
However, a work colleague showed me the website "how many left" and according to that, there are only 33 of my trim cars left.
That number seems really low - is it correct?
Car is a 2006 contemporary se tourer V6 auto.

If that number is correct, I may change plan and keep it as a future classic given its in near perfect condition. If that's the case, do any members have recommendations for insurance given it will be used for no more than 2k miles a year and I'll basically have no no claims discount as I'm using that on my other car.
My current insurer want more money to insure it for that milage than I'm currently paying for business use... Makes no sense.
Be great to hear some opinions on this plan.

Peter Best are pretty good

I was quoted £170 for 6k annual mileage on my Cowley.

Some Contemporary SE's are low production numbers to start with, I think there were only about 26 of the V6 in PBT like mine to start with, for example.

If you want classic insurance and you have another daily car it can come in really cheap, my V6 is under £150 with Peter Best

I tried Peter Best and they said their underwriter will not offer classic insurance on 75s registered after 2000..

That's not right, mine's a 54 and this is the second year! You have to tell them you have another main car and are in this club. I have two with them.

The previous post is correct Dawn, they changed their requirement to only insuring cars registered up to 31.12.2000 in November last year, unless the policyholder had existing business with them. As you were already an existing client they were able to continue with your cover.

I wish their underwriter would show some pragmatism and logic and change the criteria to any Mk1 car, not used as a daily driver, limited mileage and club membership.

An alternative is a multi-car policy.

I moved my regular car over to a multi-car policy with LV and added the 75, and it was only just over £100 for the 75.

Worth a phone call.

I got the same runaround last year from them, It must have been my turn to get the office intern or something!!! I never did get a an actual quote from them after twenty minutes on the phone, he kept repeating Rover 75's are expensive to insure I gave up in the end & it's now SORN'd.

Is that 2000 rule going to change every year? As in next year be 2001? If not, car's will turn into classics and still not qualify!
