I've just had my renewal through from them (Peter Best limited mileage policy). Quite happy, gone down £20 from last year but wondered who else does it so I can get a couple of quotes to compare before buying....

Mine went down a bit. I am hoping due to this new ruling that they keep insuring me, though, as RH won't do my V6 with it being an 04 plate.

As per my previous post Peter Best wouldn't entertain my post '00 as a classic, so instead I today asked Aviva, who currently insure my daily driving 1.8 75 which has 15 years no claims discount if they would be willing to 'mirror' the NCD onto my other 75 (which is a 2.5) limited to 3,000 miles.

They said yes, at a premium of £130 which I think is brilliant, they also said if I were to add another 75 they would again mirror the NCD on my main driver to that car as well and insure it for an even cheaper premium (think it harks back to the times I remember nearly 40 years ago when Norwich Union gave a multi-car discount which increased per car insured.)

This is an even better deal than the 'classic' insurers , admittedly without the benefits available under a classic policy such as agreed value, salvage retention etc. but irrelevant as they wouldn't entertain insuring them anyway. Maybe the position will change over the next couple of years as the cars get older, time will tell, but in the meantime I'm very happy.

You can only get classic insurance if you do a low mileage or the car is over a certain depending on the company. I know of somebody who is doing over 12k a year in a Jensen Interceptor and he cant get classic insurance due to the mileage. 8K is about the maximum and some will only allow 3k.

I had the same problem with Peter Best and went with Adrian Flux, got a similar policy as you, mirror my no claims (12yrs) but not as good a deal 310 pounds and limited to 2000 miles per yr.

Strange how this seems to vary from make to make ......

I had my Saab 93 Aero Convertible on a limited mileage classic policy when it was only 10 years old ??

This was with Peter Best ......

RH told me some time ago they'd do a ZT as it was an MG so considered classic, but not a 75 the same year! Crazy!
