For my 6 peneth worth the V8 is an odd ball in many ways. An outdated lump of metal that in honesty was fitted because it was probably very cheap and the engineers worked around it thus the electrics etc throw a wobbly. I have always seen them as prototypes that escaped the plant when the security werent looking. Why not fit a decent more modern engine as said before that you could marry up parts from the engines original manufacturer? Monetary constraints again I suppose as the M47 engine was costing Rover too much in their estimations thus looking at Fiat engines.
A supercharged one that members have is a different story and something of a beast.
For me there are better cars that are faster and dont have limited supply parts. Im sure the V8 owners are aware of this but are happy to have one. All about opinions and choice at the end of the day. I have never been in one and in honesty never had the urge to so it would be very unfair to say what they handle like etc.
I wouldnt mind a Bmw 335d but what do I know!
Its a broad church here and thats what its all about!

Usually people get rid if the vehicle they have purchased fails to come up to there expectations.

I am sure a lot of us have done it, bought a vehicle after a quick test drive but once home you realise it is not what you thought it would be because of some feature or lack of feature.

My V8 suits my situation at the moment, I don't need a car to get to work and as most of the mileage in a car is pleasure use it works. I have owned my V8 for 18 months and about 14k miles and so far no regrets, in that time I have driven 1000 miles in a weekend visiting Aberdeen, I have also had a couple of weeks away and at no time have I ever wished I had something else.

If you get sick of people having a go at 260's, try owning a 1.8

Why are you so cynical, just because you didn't like your 260 doesn't mean everyone else doesn't like theirs!?

I wouldn't drive a Marina if you paid me, but I respect that some other people would, and therefore I would not belittle them for doing so, or in any way patronise them.

I have a solution too the 260 right here.

I'll just leave this here.

The LS 400 V8.

My father had a Marina estate as a company car in the 70s. First time we lifted the mat in the back we found a great selection of assorted bolts, nuts, self tappers, washers and various other fixings.
