Can't for the life of me remember what size bit it is, but when I changed my MAF, I replaced these ridiculous security torx with self taping screws. Saves a lot of hassle next time you need to get to it.

Probably not, but this set does.
It's 5 pointed as opposed to the standard 6 points. I think the "frequently purchased together" also says something... |

I literally have a dozen Torx bits in that size, but they all have 6 points. Sometimes, some people really do deserve a punch in the face. Thanks. |

you can normally get them undone by using a small flat bladed screwdriver.then just change the screws

I am not keen to do it this way as: 1) I am always worried that it will cause more problems (e.g. knacker the screw head and be unable to unscrew it with anything) and 2) chances are that I won't have the right-sized screw in my garage, will need to drive to a few shops in town, spend loads in diesel and parking and end up having to buy a big pack of screws for a fiver anyway. Why is life so complicated? |

Grip the heads squarely and firmly with a pliers and they should twist

you will not damage the screw heads as they are hard as hell as i found out when i tryed to cut a slot in mine. hacksaw would not touch it.it was then i used the flat blade.as 4 screws most enginerring supply companys will sell you a couple for pennys.failing that if this two much for you leave it.this will be my last reply to this thread as hearing this load of negative remarks has given me the strong urge to chew my leg off

I bought a set like this, and the torx shaped ones didnt fit, but I found that the ones with the 2 points on each end would go in the little holes in the screw and got it out that way. |
