Are you able to pin-point whereabouts in the engine this noise is coming from? I'm not a diesel expert but some of the derv-heads will be along shortly to assist no doubt

PS: to the club!

Could just be poor fuel if its worse under load (diesel knock).

Or the old fuel ine resonance which I don't think anyone ever found a cure for.

Hi there and welcome to the club

There is a meet a week on Saturday (for details see my signature below). If you can manage along then some of the more technical members might be able to help diagnose the noise you are referring to.

If not, you will get the chance to show your car off and meet some fellow enthusiasts

Was this ever diagnosed/fixed?

My CDTI makes a ticking sound that's quite loud under load, can be 2k plus at time but usually more noticeable around the 3k mark.

Suspect it could be dirty injectors as it seems more noticeable when the tuning box is on
but it is certainly quite loud and doesn't sound great
