Default BMW 2.0ltr 160bhp - MGR 2.0ltr 130bhp - whats the difference?

What is the difference between the MGR diesel and the BMW diesel; I know the turbos are different; anything else? What gives them more?

BMW.
When they installed this in the 75/ZT, they also decided on principle that it would not develop the power of the parent engine. The camshaft may be different too, I don't know. However, people seem to squeeze plenty of additional horsepower by removing the catalyst and adding gizmos like the MAFAM etc.

I think it's a slightly different engine, just the same family of engines as the diesel in our cars is 1951cc where as in the BM it's 1995cc

One odd thing about the M47R diesel engine.

The M47R Diesel engine fitted to the Rover 75 was according to the brochures and technical data published up to the year 2001 rated at 1950cc.
[This could be a continuous miss-print throughout the early publications.]

The brochures published after 2001 show the M47R engine as 1951cc. it is this engine that was used throughout production.

The BMW M47D20 engine from which the M47R is derived is also rated at 1951cc.
The M47D20 engine was rated at 134hp. from launch in 1998 until 2001 when it was de-rated to 114hp.

BMW updated the engine in 2001 and its capacity was increased to 1995cc. and its power could be between 114hp. and 161hp. depending on model.

I also thought that at launch the m47r engine was common rail injection where as the bmw was not,but on later versions became so.

So the extra 50cc gives 30bhp? That's all interesting to know. Thanks!

Far easier to fit a Synergy and/or re-map with the other mods on a 135ps model with Synergy approx 155bhp and with re-map 171bhp

V/V Turbo's on the Beemers can prove problematic and expensive to repair.

The Mitsubishi turbo's as fitted to our 75 Diesels are generally very reliable.

Mitsubushi turbos ? Where does that come in between BMW & Rover tie-up?

Would Mitsubishi parts be cheaper?

What Mitsubishi's were they fitted to......?

Why Mitsubishi ?

Questions, questions....
