Thumbs down My car sounds terrible :(

Hi Group, please can I tell the symtoms and see if someone can take a guess?

Its intermittant, I can feel a rumbling/vibration from the clutch peddal. There is no power loss or problem selecting gears. When the car is slowing down under the gears i.e. not the brake, you can hear a whuring noise. And yesterday afternoon there was a realy loud knocking sound coming from the engine lump but after restarting the engine the niose went away. Its only seems to happen when the car is warm. I have not filled up with fuel in two weeks. The dipstick/oil cap and water tank cap are clean! And there is pleanty of oil up the dipstick.

My car is a tool to me and I am concerned that I will get stranded not being able to get to work

Any comments greatfully recieved.

Austin

Whuring noise could be the cooling fan wiring catching on the cooling fan - worth checking.

Hi Austin, does this noise change if you work the clutch pedal up and down?

Hi Phil, thanks for trying to help.

I think so, as it does not make the noise all the time its hard to remember.

The clutch seems to have lots of grip as it passes the hand brake on test.

Does it make the noise in neutral if you rev up and down and engage the clutch in and out?

You're welcome to help!
