Default Spark Plug confusion

Hi All,
First time Rover owner here having picked up a 2.5L V6 Connoisseur SE last weekend.

I've read a few articles on here about spark plugs and using iridium ones as the V6 back ones are a pain to get to (I have a mechanic mate helping me with this.....hopefully).

I ordered some Iridium Bosch FR6KI332S ones from Amazon and only AFTER placing the order did I notice it saying these are ONLY compatible with the Rover 75 if it has LPC / CNG conversion .

Is this a bad description from Amazon or do I need to order something else? I know Iridium is better if you HAVE an LPG conversion due to lower voltage rate but are the specific plugs I have ordered wrong for my car? It doesn't say anything about this on Bocshes own page where they are recommended for use on a 3.0l Mitusbishi V6 PETROL......

Should I order the double platinum ones instead? It's a second car so I won't be doing high miles in it I just thought the nominal cost of the iridium wold be better

Thanks for any advice

I would never choose iridium over platinum. In modern cars the platinum plugs are good for at least 60,000 miles and, in many cases, 100,000 miles. Iridium is a gimmick and has reportedly caused grief for a lot of people when they have physically failed. Send them back to Amazon for a refund. Platinums should be available locally.

Cheers,
Glenn

I've got iridium tipped plugs in my V6 and in my Outlander and have never had any problems with them. Mind you I didn't have any problems with the platinum ones they replaced either.

Whatever plugs you choose they are a fiddle to get at the rear bank.

There’s an access panel bolted onto the engine bay bulkhead which gives slightly better access but allow plenty of time.

You literally have to sit on top of the engine to get at the blighters.

Thanks for the advice, I read more into the plugs I chose originally and have ordered a different set anyway. They ARE iridium tipped but were at least recommended to the vehicle (Denso iridium ones). Hopefully they'll be OK....at least the new ones have the correct gap setting
