Default Spark plugs cost

Hi,

I've got the ZT in a local garage for a clutch replacement.

I thought, as the car is new to me, that it would be a good idea to get a compression test and spark plugs replaced at the same time.

I was surprised to hear that they wanted £78 for 6 plugs and two hours labour to replace them, they also wanted another hours labour to do the compression test.

I thought it seemed excessive, so I will just do it myself when I get it home.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Phil

I do believe that the rear plugs are a P.I.T.A to replace ,So Maybe

Two hours for spark plug replacement? Are they taking the engine out?

Perhaps it’s a diesel and they are going to spend 2 hours looking where to put them?

Having done this on both my V6 75’s I agree on the time taken.
You literally have to climb up on top of the engine to get at the rear plugs.

I replaced the plugs on my Zircon while the engine was partially stripped down during my cam belt change which did make plug access a tad easier.

It prob took me nearly two hours to replace mine last year but would have thought a garage could do it quicker. Access to rear three is a pain but if you remove some panels etc not too bad.Prob helps if you're fairly tall though and have long arms
Price of plugs they quoted does seem a tad high though ! Set of six for mine were around £40 off ebay

I think I paid about £6 a throw for iridium tipped jobbers for my 2.5. Easiest way to get at the rear bank is to remove the intake manifold chamber. I suppose that's knocking a couple of hours from start to finish.
