Question White smoke

I started my 75 CTD this morning and after about a min or so i had a cloud of white smoke from under the engine this has happened about 4 times so far. Anyone any ideas

Are you sure it isn't steam? Could be condensation maybe?

Is this with the bonnet open or closed? If it is with the bonnet closed, have you got a leak from your exhaust downpipe flexible coupling?
Failing that, have you got a webasto fuel burning heater fitted? If so it could be the exhaust fumes from this firing up.

Had a bit of a problem with mine today, (turned out to be the starter motor jammed, had to rock the car to free it) and when it started, I'd got the bonnet up, and left it running for a few minutes, then switched off.

Lots of white smoke (steam?) from the Webasto heater, not from the metal exhaust, but the fattish pipe running across just in front. Is this normal?

Imet up with smokie999 a few months ago and he said i had a pre heater on the car

No i dont think it was steam more of a white smoke

Pheeew thanks it has been a bit disconcerting seeing this happen i am still not right sure how this pre heater works?

Does it not just burn the diesel like one of those diesel burning space heaters?
