Default MASS Meter died?

Hello,
Today as the power steering pump was changed, just saw the picture atached. I drove like that for over 300 miles and not knowing it was taken off.Plugged back in, and now the engine idles at 1100-1200 rpm's and an engine warning light was on(yellow one with "!" inside)
I unpluged it, and engine light is still on, but now it idles like same when i buyed it 700-800rmp
Did i damaged anything? Can i drive the car until i get it replaced?
With it conected the car starts at a "quarter of key"

Is it damaged? I need to change it ?
On a scale to 1-10 how hard is it to change(no further experiences with rover before)

There is a Search facility on the site that you may find useful, in the meantime, this one may be useful!

There are some guides on my new website which cover common faults including the maf sensor.
We also stock the 5sided security bits needed for maf removal.
I don't recommend you buy one of the very cheap mafs and you can read about the other options on my Synergy 2 pages:
