Default Engine Malfunction Light

Hello

Today for the 2nd time in the last few weeks my engine malfunction (diesel model) came on then quickly went away. Both times its happened ive been driving slowly in the car. Is this just one of those electrical faults or is there chance something more serious could be wrong car been driving fine not noticed any difference with it at all.

This situation can become a guessing game as to what the problem is.Perhaps a code reader to delete the stored codes and when the MIL happens again the code can be read.A T4 session would pin point the problem though.

Checked fuel filter plug seemed tight also checked the ECU chamber as the both times its happened its been heavy rain but that was fine no water in there.

Its most likely due to water being sucked in and impinging on the maf sensor, affecting the signal. The maf is usually never the same again.

Other mil illuminations are usually maf sensor or fluctuating pressure at the fuel filter.
The latter could be due to a clogged fuel filter - the recent fuel shortages have caused a lot of this due to the forecourts selling the dregs out of their tanks. Also possibly due to imminent failure of the electric fuel pump(s).
If hot starting has been a bit sluggish as well, then check the in tank pump.

Its due to the wet weather and the poor design of the diesels' air intake.

My intake mod mk2 will solve the problem and allow the engine to breath more freely.
