If your car is rather underpowered, then you prob have a 116, it should also tell you in the log book (registration doc) ...

[QUOTE=Unclefista;980773] there's absolutely no way they'd ever know QUOTE]
That's not true although the likelyhood of them investigating is small. There are companies who specialise in forensic examination of the ecu, and in fact anyone able to read the ecu with a remapping tool can compare the file with a standard one and see that it has been modified. We've heard of only one case on a more 'exotic' car where this was done and probably because the car showed signs of other undeclared mods and was a write-off, so the insurance were suspicious. Re Insurance for a Synergy: Admiral/Elephant, Direct Line, Tesco, Shiela's Wheels and Saga definitely do cover it. The extra cost varies with the % bhp increase, claims history etc etc. One company allowed a customer to fit a Synergy 2e with no premium increase. Its also worth mentioning that the Synergy can be transferred to other vehicles for between £15 and £30 depending on whether a new cables is needed or just reprogramming. Ron

Quite a few insurance companies don't differenciate between the 116 and 135 and charge the same.
The arguement that applying the 135 tune is an upgrade is invalid because there's quite a few 116's that were altered at the factory before delivery with the X-power upgrade, there's no way of telling without being able to look the coding and the programming date Russ
