Bit more info on this.
I wouldn't start, even when cold and the battery was dying so I used jump leads and it started fine. As the battery isn't in great condition I bought a new one. Still wouldn't start this morning, tried the jump leads and it fired up first time. What does this indicate, it's a brand new battery so surely it should be getting enough power. John |

Im a nut and bolt fitter just thinking of what comes to mind.
Was it a rover battery or equivilent? maybe that the new batery was not as charged as it could have been after a good run on the car. Top of my head now i thought of glow plugs, how long does it take for the light to go out first with the battery you have and then with the jump leads on? |

You may find my website's 75 servicing and fault finding pages useful.
They cover the correct way to check for leakback and I'm just about to add a photo of a fuel pressure regulator with a damaged 'o' ring. This is quite rare, and not easy to diagnose because most fuel related problems tend to give similar symptoms. http://tuning-diesels.com/75Zt/R75serv.htm Ron
