Did it to an auto saloon with superb results. 2 hour job one to clean the bits like maf and stuff and 1 to install the bits. Don't get the cabin switch, I never used it. The ron box was left on all the time, saled through MOT's with no problem.

Go for the Pierburgh MAF as well, it's well worth doing

But keep the old MAF after carefully cleaning it, as it may come in useful.

Certainly improves low end acceleration.

I run Synergy 2 on my Auto tourer and it makes a huge difference.

No need to change your Maf unless the one you have is showing signs of being out of spec. Even then the Synergy 2 has a Mafam section which is designed to make naughty mafs behave themselves.

The Pierburgh maf is a cheaper alternative to the original Bosch maf but can only be used in conjunction with a Synergy and, as far as I know, has no other benefit other than the cost.

Hi Craig.
I have a synergy 2 on my tourer CDTi auto and it's well worth the money.

Such a pleasurable easy drive.
I also have a Pierburgh MAF, Jetex air filter, EGR bypass and filterless PCV now. Although these are not necessary. But I would recommend the type 2 air intake mod.

I have mine set on 10 as I think I have an injector problem. Used to be on 8! On the auto Ron does suggest the lower settings to stop the auto box snatching. But if you feather the throttle you can avoid that

Lastly the Pierburgh is a good alternative, but when I can, I shall revert to a Bosch as the Pierburgh tends to run a bit lean at the top end so the car seems to run out of "vavavoom" before you want to come off the gas.
That said, it still makes a FAR better drive than bog standard or a dead MAF

Hope that helps somewhat.

Regards. Steve.

Thanks to Steve and everyone else for the Synergy 2 endorsements.

Re the Pierburgh running lean - I wasn't aware of this as no one has got back to me so I am more than willing to reprogram them for more top end maf boost.

I can't have you throwing money at the Bosch one if all it needs is a free update to your Synergy!

Ron
