Default ebay scanners?

what like are these ebay ob11 fault scanners like do they work? has anyone bought one?would i be wasting money buying one? cheers-dan

you will need to add a bit more info in order for others to see what ones you are talking about ,post up the iem number ... most on ebay though work some do more than others ,the maxi scan is a good one around £45/£50 but i would get the one that is a little dearer that wil do the abs and air bag .most have live data too

Hiya Dan, all those scanners your considering will work with your vehicle but not a diesel pre 2004. NON of them will 'do' the abs or airbag. the only difference between them is the readout, you get live data or generic codes with a booklet listings with the cheaper ones. hth.

I bought a Maxiscan 309 off ebay to investigate a check engine light on my 1.8T and I really like it - very easy to use and will switch off engine light. Cost me about £40 delivered.

Heres some pics...






I need a new cat :-(

I have a diesel 2003 what would i need to read my codes, if these dont work on the diesel?

You'd need one with manufacturer specific abilitysuch as a Sykes Pickavant ACR4, plus Rover V4 pod + harness. About £500 in total so not worthwhile unless you can get a few owners to club together.
