Our Rav’s not going to like this, he lives in the Kirkcaldy area.

Yeah but..... his cars are immaculate and very well looked after, I don't think his will have a problem with the MOT test.

Barra
Slight tangent, but you can take your driving test on Barra, the last island on the Outer Hebrides. There you will find no roundabouts, no traffic lights, no dual carriageways, no zebra crossings and one short one way street which is sometimes observed. One huge benefit is that it does teach you courtesy as majority of the roads are single track with passing places.
You have to book and wait for the visit of an examiner but I believe the pass rate is . . . 100%. I guess you have to be a resident otherwise every teenager would head to Barra: but then I can think of many far worse places to kill time.

Home Messages Notification Do you know the 5 most missed defects in MOT? Published 21 February 2019 To kick off the new messages in MTS, we’ve decided to share with you what the most commonly missed defects were in 2018. Last year there were 38 million MOTs performed in England, Wales and Scotland, and around 10% of these inspections missed some defects. In some cases, the vehicles should not have passed their MOTs. The 5 most commonly missed defects are on: Lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment Suspension Brakes Tyres Driver’s view of the road Some of the defects may not seem like the most serious of issues, but they can contribute to accidents if they are missed on inspection. We at DVSA know that there are many reasons for why MOT testers miss defects, and we are working to improve the situation. In addition to our ongoing quality assurance activities and investigations, we are working to make the MOT standards clearer so that there’s less room for different interpretations. We’ll publish improved information on the MOT standards over the next few months. Meanwhile, to refresh your knowledge of the MOT standards, take a look the MOT Inspection Manuals for classes 3, 4, 5 and 7 and classes 1 and 2. Print message Back to messages |
