Default Re attacks on the Synergy. Ron responds.

1) Common rail tuning products have been on the market since 2000 and do Not have a reputation for causing problems. There is no reason any alleged problems would only be caused by a Synergy and not be all other tuning modules. Only a tiny percentage of our sales comes via this forum and yet no other 75 or ZT owners seem to have problems that are attributable to the Synergy.
2) None of the detractors have been in touch with us over their concerns or complaints. It is normal practice for the seller to be contacted first: ‘going public’ instead speaks volumes about their agenda.
3) ANY tuning will increase the strain on all components. Even a remap causes the injection pump to work harder. The extra performance means more fuel is needed so anyone claiming a remap is ‘safe’ and a tuning box isn’t is once again (like the ”our remaps are insurance friendly” claims) trying to pull the wool over your eyes.
4) Injection pumps fail on all makes and models all the time, whether they are tuned or not. If failure was rare replacements would ONLY be available through the main dealer network and not from the very many independent parts stockists.
5) Any tuning carries risk and the older the vehicle the more likely it is that some part will fail, whether tuned or not.
6) What matters to any tuning company are the results and there is no doubt that the Synergy does what we claim so I am not interested in someone with a T4 who is now an expert, trying to prove otherwise. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing they say.
7) We have been approached by two organisations that have secured grant funding asking us work with them to develop products for commercial vehicle emissions and fuel consumption reduction. This does not happen to any Tom, **** or Harry, with or without a T4.
8) It actually stems from our excellent reputation and the large number of our products already in use by many commercial & agricultural vehicle operators, including one vehicle manufacturer, where the product is on their official parts list.
9) I am disgusted by the club once again, allowing these attacks on our products and reputation - it was about a year ago that the same members had a pop at the Synergy. I can only surmise they’ve had a quiet couple of months with their remapping so need to try and drum up business by putting members off the Synergy. I wonder if some members have been promised an extra discount if they join in the Synergy ‘s denigration.
10) My inclination is to sever all ties with the club and its members, many of whom I have personally & willingly helped (whether customers or not) over the years and still do every almost week. However this would delight the remappers so won’t happen for now.
11) Thanks to all those who have spoken in support of the Synergy and of me and for the many pms and emails condeming the thinly veiled attacks.

Forum members are intelligent enough to make their own minds up.

Thank you for speaking about this. I for one initially thought about the synergy before I purchased my car. I was put off not by any negative reports, which to be honest were none, but because it was a separate box and hard wired. I didn't want this. I am not a speed freak, but just want to unlock a little more of if engines potential. The mafless remap will suit me I think, for its simplicity of operation.

I did my research, a lot of reading, but I will stress again, I saw no negative comments of the synergy, nor the remaps either!. My choice is mine by my research based on my needs and desires.

Oh for the days of tuning were new cams, jets and tweaking of carbs. :p

The Synergy isn't hard wired, its plug-in (sorry if this is what you meant) and we have commisioned an oem style maf socket which should be here soon to make it even easier and more foolproof.
My sister company Energy Tuning supplies whatever a customer wants, be it remap or box so we are not partisan in any way but the Synergy still has the advantage of transferability when you change vehicle, adjustability so you choose the setting you prefer, and can be sold on when you are finished with it.
Many remappers are worried over the ever increasing number of vehicles that cannot be remapped, some can only be done by removing and opening the ecu, and some newer ones cannot be done at all so remapper are keen to maximise sales by whatever means before their market disappears.

I cannot fault my synergy at all so you will get no complaints from me, my car is gutless without it.

Had the same box on my previous car (75) and transferred it to my current one. No pumps have failed, no reliability issues whatsoever... Yet lol and that's over 3 Years of using one (on reasonably old cars I might add)

Hi Ron,

It's been a few years since I had my Cdti but just thought I'd like to say that when I had it the synergy I bought from your good self gave me great performance gains and I only ever had exemplary service from yourself

My old car is still in club ownership and as far as I'm aware the present keeper is still using the synergy

I have neither a Synergy nor a remap, as the power and economy of my engine is sufficient for my needs. The previous owner banged on about the 'tunability' of the engine but to be honest, all I could see was that it had a good quality solid dog guard between the boot and the back seats.

While I couldn't care less about electronic gizmos and ECU reprogramming (not in this context, anyway), I do think that these unevidenced and misdirected attacks on a product linked to a forum member's means of earning a living are incredibly discourteous at best.

Have to agree totally, I have used a synergy on my MG and my 75 over the last few years without any problems.

Ron how wrong you are about me, so very very wrong

I do not make my living from assisting members on this forum, I do so of my own free will for little or sometimes no financial gain, nor do I have a vested interest in the sale of MAF sensors more suited to a Mercedes van.

I don't make fantastic claims about how intercepting and attenuating the signal from the high pressure sensor will reduce turbo lag, and increase output of a standard car in excess of 20 BHP, nor that amplifying a failing MAF signal where in 99% of cases the signal output of such is higher than specified, will assist.

What I do for a living rewards me fiscally in spades, and as I've previously stated I wouldn't give two hoots if I never touched another car, either diagnostically or otherwise.

In terms of high pressure fuel pump damage, without exception in my limited experience of this phenomenon, each and every affected car car was fitted with a common rail HP sensor tuning module, some of your product, and some of other manufacturers origin, the majority being the popular Synergy 2.

I am not a mechanic, however I am an electromechanical design engineer, with a degree in electronics engineering and have "played with" cars as a hobby for approaching 30 years.

You mention being approached by a large organisation to supply "Modules", what do you hope to achieve by aggrandising yourself?.

As I already am the sole supplier to one of the worlds largest conglomerates, of the very part which makes the Rover 75 and MGZT diesels tick, in the words of Shania Twain "That don't impress me much"

Unlike yourself, I do not generalise in the supply of common rail tuning products covering multiple manufacturers, I specialise in one marque,MG Rover, and indeed in one model in particular R40.

I fully understand that people have a free choice in the matter of gaining a little extra from their car, whether it be from the addition of a product such as yours, or indeed anyone else for that matter, and am under no illusions that you like myself and others have many satisfied customers, and very few disgruntled ones.

Where you have made this personal, is in your claims to have been requested to remove 160 upgrades performed by myself, Russ and Phil something I asked to provide evidence of, however you have not been forthcoming with this

Why is this laughable?, every person that comes to see me personally has my cast iron assurance that if they are not completely satisfied with the results, their car would be returned to it's original state completely free of charge and any payment made returned.

So given that, why would anyone forego a complete refund, and then pay a third party such as yourself to carry out the work? it simply doesn't make sense.

I can only conclude that you feel threatened in some way that a product now exists that may just usurp your crown as the king of diesel tuning, as far as the R40 is concerned.

I'm sorry if you find my findings personally offensive, or feel I am singling you out for criticism, but I have always had the best interests of fellow owners of both Rover 75 and MG ZT at heart, whether or not it includes tuning, brakes, exhausts or indeed anything else for that matter.

Just want to echo what Brian has posted above.
Myself and Brian are the only people who can remanufacture DDE 4.0 Ecu's for the R40 to OEM standards and even solved a problem with new replacement Ecu's that even Bosch were not willing to address

It's not been quiet Ron, nor have we had to offer discounts to owners to discredit your products and find your comments that suggest that this is the case very offensive.

All comments from owners have been their own findings and it is on their recommendation that others have opted for the 160 remap.

Russ
