The difference in build quality?

Hi

I have a W reg 2000 Rover 75 Con SE a Cowley one. I have read on .org that the build quality of the Longbridge made cars is better. I was just wondering what was better between the two in terms of build quality?

Having owned both Coley and Longbridge versions I would note that:

Longbridge paintwork was better

Nothing in it as regards putting the cars together, but....

...some of the bits were better quality on the Cowley model. I think I'm refering to project Drive, or whatever it was called.

Longbridge cars just sorted out a few problems with lose trim, like the trim round the doors from falling off when kicked!

But some of the late longbridge door cards felt really cheap and did squeak and pushed - my Cowley don’t and they are solid as stone.

Mines Cowley and it is very well made.

Has anyone else noticed that the Cowley cars have a different accent to the Longbridge ones?

The comment that Longbridge R40s are better built came from a Longbridge owner. Go figure.

I find no discernible difference really, except my car appears to be a bit quieter. One thing to remember is that any car, as it passes through it's life, gets better built and more reliable anyway. So the first ones off the line are not as good as the last as the components are more sorted, assembly is slicker, and any faults will have been corrected. Well, hopefully. So, Cowley ones by definition should be less well built than Longbridge cars.

However I disagree with the notion. And my 75 has a wooden dashboard, so ner ner ner.

I've no sat nav in my Cowley car but if it were a Longbridge built car with nav, would it call roundabouts islands?

It would pronounce them as rowunderbowts. And go ooooh when you drive anywhere near the Rotunda.
