Hybrid TV Tuner no longer has digital channels
Hi
M800 RUS has just returned from a body shop after some cosmetic work but to my horror when I turned my TV on (BMW Hybrid Digital Tuner) all the saved channels have disappeared. The battery was disconnected whilst work was in progress and can only assume this cleared out the tuned channels. I've attempted a rescan in several places but it does not pick anything up. All I get is one analogue channel and the AV input. Country setting is showing as United Kingdom - Is this the correct setting for tuning digital? as NTSC or PAL seem to stick in my mind as tuner country settings? Anybody with the hybrid digital tuner I'd appreciate you letting me know your settings or problems you may have encountered doing a rescan? Thanks Russ |

What "cosmetic work" did they do? Were they poking around the boot spare wheel recess, or inside either of the rear side glasses?
It sounds like the TV Amplifier has become disconnected, or the antenna cables coming to it from the rear screen are adrift. Certainly the first things to check. I don't have the Hybrid Tuner, but for reception of all U.K channels both Digital & Analogue, it must be set to PAL.

Hi Reebs
Work done was alloy wheels refurbished and door handles colour coded to bodywork. So alloys off and interior door cards to remove exterior handle. Hopefully they've been nowhere near the tuner. Will check connections and it looks like I need to switch back to PAL. Thanks for your help Russ |

I have replied to your PM,
and I can also confirm only PAL for the UK Digital, Satellite or Analogue. NTSC (never twice same colour) is for USA SECAM is for France and some of Europe. |

Just flicking through tv settings. I have several versions of PAL. Is PAL Euro correct setting for us? When I do rescan it stays on blue screen with 'Updating program list please wait...' both on my old analogue tuner and current digi one searches never took more then a couple of minutes.
Aeiral connections to rear quarter glass are all in tact guess next stops to check tuner connections in boot. |

Hi John
PAL options offered are; PAL-DK, PAL-BG, PAL-EURO, PAL-AUST, PAL-BG, PAL-CHI, PAL-DK, PAL-I, PAL-ITALY, PAL-M, PAL-MAR, PAL-N Further to this theres an A-Z of indvidual countries offered including England and United Kingdom (no transmission type listed just country name) as well as the NTSC and SECAM options. As you can see most are country specific. I tried PAL-EURO. I also checked all connections to tuner and all seems ok there. Also disconnected battery to power down systems/re boot all units etc... No damp or moisture in wheel well of boot so doesn't appear I've fried anything plus the BM54 is working fine. Auto tuned no problem after battery being off. Although tried tuning in several places signal is not the strongest round my area so this evening going to take the car to an area where I know all digital channels use to tune/display perfect and see what I can get. Thanks to all the replies so far... Russ |

UK is PAL-I
but you can also try PAL-BG which on some receivers works, as obviously not set right. |

Yep I agree with JDC, PAL I is the one you should use.
The only difference between the PAL's being that the sound carrier is different, so if set to the wrong version, you would get white noise (shash) through the speakers instead of programme sound. |
