Default upgrading sat nav

Hi , I wonder if anyone can help me, I'm looking to upgrade my existing sat nav unit - serial number YIB 000260, is there a direct upgrade that is simple to install i.e unplug current unit and plug new one in, many thanks

The logical replacement is the BMW Mark 4 unit, which has a DVD drive for maps, split screen function, and 3-D map view.

JohnDotCom is your man for these. AFAIK, it's a straight swap.

Providing you have what is referred to as a Mk3 then yest it is a straight swap.

If you have an older Mk 2 then you have to unplug the aerial from the seperate GPS receiver and plug that into the Mk 4.

No additional work is required in either case.

All that stops you is the expense! Mk IVs are currently going for between £250 and £400 on Ebay.

Yep, the original poster states his is part number YIB 000260 which is the Mark III Rover unit.

Yes I think it is a mark 3, as my car is a 2004 ROVER 75 CONNOISSEUR SE CDTI
