I have heard this about Bailey before.,someone else who stores their van at the same place Keith and I do,had a Bailey,it got damp in behind the rear window, the dealer said it was the manufacturer,and Bailey said it was the dealer's responsibility,. At the time his caravan was only 18 months old, he eventually got a solicitor to write to Bailey and tell them to sort it out or face court for breach of contract. ( warranty claim ). After much to ing and fro ing, they sent it to the dealer to sort. They made a bodge up of it,sealant all over the inside windows and walls, he eventually traded against a new swift, and then when it went for it's first service,it had dam in around the edge of the floor.

Mine is a 2004 Bailey and I have nothing but praise for the finish of it. My only area of concern was the flat roof panel to front and rear panel seals. There is a bit of a step there and the depth of sealant looks as if a child could have done a tidier job.

What matters though, is that it is as dry as a bone not the slightest bit of ingress.

The newer the 'van - the worse the problems seems to be with damp.
My 1997 Buccaneer has a maximum damp reading of 12 - round the back of the sink unit, using a professional damp meter.
Even if I had the money (which I haven't) to buy a new caravan - I've read so many horrendous stories of damp, and manufacturers'/dealers' unwillingness/inability to solve the problems - I wouldn't go near with a barge pole.

Well I submitted a claim through the 'Small Claims' court for the full amount I paid this guy for the work he failed to do..... followed all procedures correctly and today I have been informed that he failed to respond to the court papers.

I now have to file for Judgement, which I intend to do so also adding the cost of filing the claim.

I have to say I am really disappointed it has had to go this far, I was hoping that the 'gentleman' may have made an offer of a refund or even better complete the work in full that he was paid for.

I fear this may be the case; but that will be up to the court to decide I will ask for Full Immediate payment, the big problem is a small claim court will order payment but cannot enforce it, I really hope this guy settles as I will be prepared after going this far in paying for a Baliff Recovery, and that can prove to be very expensive for the 'defendant'

I know this is not in the spirit of this festive period, but I had to go and put a cover over the van the other day to reduce the risk of water coming down the van and causing further damage.
