I'm going through the same issues with Post Office broadband at the moment. I daren't say what I really think of their customer service because the forum swear filter would go into meltdown, but the fact that they're tied in with talk talk should tell you all you need to know.

MAC code obtained and passed on to my new provider

I think that they are a fly by night outfit, Derek.

We kicked them in to touch a couple of years back, diabolical broadband. I still have a virgin mobile contract though,as its dirt cheap and I get loads for it.
The benefits of being a customer of theirs for years,I get loyalty discount, plus I threatened to leave a couple of years back, seeing as no one else in the family was with virgin mobile,I couldn't take advantage of free virgin to virgin calls, so they offered me a deal I couldn't refuse. Only complaint I have is some of the areas I work at, have poor network coverage, but I wouldn't get the same offer if I changed provider.
