ok thanks Ron,

If this is the case, would the LSM illumination be permanently on, or the headlights be playing up?

I dont have water in the plenum chamber, I haven't checked the LSM for corrosion as yet. I dont suppose I can just swap with another used LSM from another ZT if it was found to be at fault?

How do I go about testing the LSM, I only know the basics to car electronics, so to much tech-talk will most probably go over my head.

Did you rule out the light not going out in the boot? That seems to be quite a common problem. The easy way to check for that is to fold the rear seats forward and then watch to see whether the light in the boot goes out. It does not go out immediately but should go out with the other interior lights.

Hi, sorry I forgot to mention, yes I performed the test earlier this evening. Yes, the boot light goes out, it dims with the interior light and then goes out completely.

The LSM can be swopped but the replacement has to be programmed to the car.
One of the ELECTRONIC gurus mentioned this only a day or two ago.

Was just going to read to the end of the posts and make a suggestion that poster should take belt off alternator and see if the alternator was running backwards. I have known that did that on different cars.

It was nice talking with you Steve, appreciated the advice.

I've just been outside in the cold and performed the Parasitic test draw, and BINGO! I only have a 0.47ma reading, which means there is no drain on the battery to cause it to go flat.

It looks like all 3 spare batteries I have are rubbish, which is hard to believe considering one is only 10 months old, and was perfectly fine on the car it came from.

I have no battery/alternator light on dash, have no reason to believe the battery isn't charging. The car doesn't get driven much, but my red ZT doesn't either, car can stand for 2 weeks with no use and battery has been perfectly fine for two years.

I guest I have 4 deteriorating batteries that will not hold a charge, maybe its time for a new battery.

Thanks again for all the help guys, very much appreciated.

Just as a thought I had a battery drain on my ZTT and Phil T4 identified at a Sammy Millers Meet that the Sat Nav Drive was not shutting down. The drive would go through the shut down process and immediately reboot and start up again, it might be worth checking if this maybe the cause of the battery drain. Since the sat nav drive was sent away and refitted under warranty it has been fine since.
