They certainly do down here in the South East. It's typically less 'oop north', or so I'm told.

Can any member recommend a tool for cutting exhaust pipe?
How did you get on doing the job?

Well I've took the plunge and ordered me a back box like the one Smudge bought.
I've also ordered a mole grip type exhaust pipe cutters to help me along the way. Won't be doing any of the work until the fortnight holidays. Will let the forum know how I got on. ps When the work is done there will be them exhaust cutters up for grabs if any member wants to buy them.

Well they both arrived today. Both exhaust and the pipe cutter.
I got the one Smudge bought. As he said it needs painting as it looks bare metal. I have some black Hammeright in the garage but I dare say silver paint would look better, but then again who will see it? Any suggestions on paint if not Hammeright?

I got one of these mate:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224082800190 Couldn't separate the mid section pipe from the downpipes and it was in good nic so I cut it with my angle grinder and used the included joint (it's like a sleeve) to connect the backbox to it. Easy job - the only pita is the rubber mounts - I cut the old ones off and used some WD40 to get the new ones on. Use your jack to lift the backbox into position. |

I would recommend putting a band around the hangers on the silencer as they tend to break away from the box as only welded to the outer skin I made a band for mine from 30mm steel pallet banding as one of the hangers became detached.
